Abstract
This is a discussion of the ITE Technical Council Committee 6Y-38's report of work which provides transportation professionals with an objective analysis of the impact that urban transit can have on land use. The full report reviews, in detail, the heavy rail transit systems in Toronto; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco; Buffalo; and Atlanta. Facts about travel in each of these cities are presented, and the land use impacts, land values, and economic impacts of transit are discussed. Questions that remain unanswered regarding transit impacts are listed.
