Abstract
It is pointed out that there is a need for traffic engineers to get to the forefront of public discussions of traffic safety problems and let the community know of the engineer's concern for traffic safety problems. Traffic engineers should be aware that citizen concerns for traffic safety, if properly channeled, can become a potent force in efforts to forward traffic safety improvement programs for a community. Traffic engineers should train themselves to gain positive momentum from potentially negative situations.
