Abstract
The potential and means exist for the application of microcomputers to project management in transportation consulting. In particular, microcomputerization can improve the ease, timeliness, and quality of project planning, monitoring, and control. Microcomputers can also be further used for storage and management data on previous project efforts. This article describes a traffic impact and access study, a typical project for transportation consultants. Recommendations are made for tools for a microcomputerized project management system. The possibility of modifying or supplementing commercial project management microcomputer software to better suit transportation consulting purposes should be examined, as well as the development of a system specifically for application to transportation consulting.
