Abstract
Railway bridges must be replaced rapidly to avoid detrimental effects on the operation of the railway. Detour routes are sometimes not available and often not an economical option. This paper describes the planning and techniques used in the rapid replacement of a movable steel railway bridge with minimal interruption to railway and marine traffic.
