Abstract
Lean manufacturing techniques save millions of dollars by improving efficiency and reducing waste. Lean principles can be modified for use in the unique environments of bus and rail maintenance. A preliminary investigation of how lean techniques can be employed at the Chicago Transit Authority in Illinois is presented.
